Is your dream mushing in the Arctic? To lead a team of dogs through the snow and wilderness?

Mushing and Outdoor Life

Mushing and Outdoor Life are for those who dream of mastering a team of dogs. Our dogs are here only for the students, they should be trained and groomed every day and are always available. We have both Alaskan and Siberian husky. Pasvik is a dog sledding paradise with snow six months per year. You get to walk the dogs all year round and in March you get to experience Finnmarksløpet from the inside.

At Mushing and Outdoor Life you get really close to animals and nature. We travel on short and long trips in Pasvik, both hiking and of course sledding. No prior knowledge is required, as long as you like to be outside and really love dogs.

Autumn Training

We have several walks in Pasvik during the fall, where we sleep in shelters, Lavvu or under the open sky. Then we train the dogs by wagon. In addition, we have time to do a lot of other outdoor life, such as canoeing, hiking and fishing.

Mushing in November

Most years, Pasvik offers a full six-month snow season, and in November you and the dogs experience the pine forest at its most magical, as we enter into the blue hours, the moonlight and the Northern Lights season. On the November tour, you will get sledding and learn to take good care of the man's best friend on the trip.

Ski and sled ride in high mountain terrain along the Finnmark coast

At the school's cottage Ropelvbu on the Finnmark coast, we find an open and extensive high mountain terrain. Late in February, the opportunities here are endless.

Finnmarksløpet

During the Finnmarksløpet race, Europe's longest dog sledding competition, we run checkpoint Neiden. Neiden is a checkpoint both on the way in and back from Kirkenes. That's why the teams come here twice. We therefore see the race from the inside for a long time. It's very fun to be part of this. Being responsible for the checkpoint involves, among other things, receiving and dispatching the teams, having control of times in and out, and reporting all this to the organizers located in Alta.

Mushing in the Finnmarksløps trail

Pasvik Folkehøgskole is an important part of Europe's longest sled dog race, and you get to take part in the event yourself and get to know the fantastic dogs and dog runers. After the race, the Finnmarkløpet trail is open to us, and many count the eastern parts along the border with Finland and Russia as the most beautiful part of the race.
